Seventh Grade FLE Class Approaching

Seventh grade students will begin Family Life Education (FLE) on December 12 and lessons will conclude on December 19. Parents who do not their children participate in Human Growth and Development instruction may choose to opt their children out of any or all of the lessons. If you would like to opt your child out of one or more of these lessons, please fill out the opt-out form for your child’s grade level and return it to your child’s teacher. If you have already indicated your desire to opt your child out of the HGD lessons by using the form sent home earlier in the school year, you do not need to return this form. Picture Make Up Day is Tuesday, December 2nd

Students can have their picture taken or retaken if they can meet one of the following requirements:
1.      The student was absent on the first picture day (October 27th & 28th).
2.      The student enrolled at Glasgow after October 28th.
3.      The student has money to purchase new pictures and brings it on December 2nd .
4.      There is something wrong (bad hair days or uncool clothes don’t count as “something wrong”) with the picture taken during the first picture day:  (students MUST return the entire packet in order to have their picture retaken). 

Pictures will be taken in the Lecture Hall during periods 2, & 4

Picture Day Information

Picture Day has been scheduled!!  Students will have their picture taken during their PE/Health class on either Monday, October 27th or Tuesday, October 28th.  Order forms will be distributed the week of October 20thFamilies wishing to purchase pictures MUST have payment at the time the picture is taken. Money arriving in the front office after the picture is taken will not be accepted.  Please contact Mr. Perella at maperella@fcps.edu for more information.

Changes to the Glasgow MS Website...

Glasgow Community,

We have made some slight changes to the Glasgow MS Website (mobile site will be reflected soon).


  • We have moved our Front Office Support Staff information to the Administration page - (both the Administration and Front Office Support Staff will be on the same page)
  • The PTA Page has moved to the "About Glasgow MS" tab
  • We have added an "Advanced Academic Program" tab which contains important information
  • Ms. Riccio also has information she will post from time to time on the Literacy Announcement section.  Check into the Literacy department for any announcements/books to read! 
These changes will also be reflected on the mobile site of Glasgow MS which you can see on any mobile device.  Just type www.fcps.edu/GlasgowMS on any phone, tablet, etc... and you'll be taken to the school website.

We are also pleased to announce that we have an anonymous online bullying form that works on both the desktop (computer) version of our website, and is now Mobile!  All information will be sent directly to our Student Services team and they will take care of it as they receive the reports!  All you will need to do is click on the image on the blue sidebar (the image will say "Stop Bullying!" on it (on the desktop version) (The mobile version has it's own link).  You can report it no matter if you are a student, parent, staff member, etc...  All reports will be completely anonymous.

We also post all Glasgow MS KIT (Keep-In-Touch)'s on our pages!  On both our desktop and mobile version, just click "Principal's Corner" and it will take you to the page that will contain all Keep-In-Touch's.

Update to 6th Grade Family Life Education Information Night

Attention all parents of 6th grade students: You are invited to attend a meeting to preview the 6th grade Human Growth & Development lessons and materials and to talk with school staff about the program. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 14 from 5:00pm-7:00pm in the Health Rooms prior to the October PTA meeting.  All program materials and videotapes will be available for your review at that time.

FCPS Travel Opportunities sponsored by Glasgow teachers!

FCPS Travel Opportunities sponsored by Glasgow teachers!
An informational meeting about FCPS sponsored travel opportunities to Costa Rico, the Dominican Republic and Europe will be held September 25 from 7-8 pm at Glasgow in the lecture hall.

Spring Break in Costa Rica:

During Spring Break, March 28 – April 5, 2015, 7th and 8th grade FCPS students will travel to Costa Rica to visit and learn about rainforests and how Costa Ricans are trying to protect their environment! Students will visit a Sea Turtle conservatory, take a boat ride and learn about local recycling efforts, visit Monteverde, a Cloud Forest, to talk to scientists while learning about frogs and butterflies, and more! Glasgow’s Ms. O’Donoghue (7th grade science) and two other FCPS middle school teachers will be group leaders working along with an Education First (EF) bilingual tour director. The cost of the trip includes everything except pocket money for souvenirs, bottled water, sodas and snacks. Summer in the Dominican Republic:

In the summer of 2015, FCPS is offering a stimulating service learning program, Dare to Dream, through Education First (EF).  The program will take place in Monte Cristi in the Dominican Republic.  During the course of the trip, FCPS students will work with EF and a local non-profit organization on projects focusing on early childhood development, Spanish literacy, English language instruction, and life skills.  In addition to leading English classes for Dominican students, other highlights of the trip include meringue dance lessons, visiting a local cultural market and hiking to the beach at Puerto el Morro.  The trip price includes round- trip airfare, all transportation, regional style meals, hotels, a full-time tour director, and travel insurance.  Students on the trip will earn 30+ service hours.  Current 6th and 7th grade students from FCPS middle schools are encouraged to enroll.  Glasgow’s Lindsay Mulcahy (lmulcahy@fcps.edu) is one of the three FCPS teachers leading this trip.  For more information, feel free to contact Lindsay or visit:http://www.eftours.com/tour-website/1561686PV

High School students in the Netherlands and Belgium

Any FCPS student in 9th grade or above this school year can take part in an exciting opportunity to explore Europe! Titled “Global Diplomats,” some highlights of the trip include a tour of the United Nations building in New York City, a visit to the European Commission of the European Union in Brussels, Belgium, the International Criminal Court in the Hague, Netherlands and Anne Frank’s house in Amsterdam. The trip price includes round- trip airfare, all transportation, breakfast and dinners, hotels, a professional tour guide, entrance fees, and travel insurance. Dates are June 28- July 4, 2015. In an attempt to obtain an accurate number of students who will attend Glasgow next school year, we are asking parents to send in the attached form if your family will move out of the Glasgow boundary.  Please review the attached intentions form. Forms can also be obtained from Glasgow’s main office and the website. If you are sure that you will move out of our boundary this summer, please fill out the form, sign, and return to Glasgow Middle School’s Student Services office.  If you do not intend to move this summer, please do not return the form to Glasgow.

Wednesday – We will run a modified bell schedule on Wednesday and Thursday found below.

Morning - Those students who were originally scheduled to take the SOL on March 19th  in the morning.
